I graduated from the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam in 1983, in the department of drawing, painting and design. Since then I had regular exhibitions in the Netherlands and abroad.

I work from existing images from the past and present. I take still lifes out of their context by placing objects from the past into a contemporary setting.

My painting style is very refined and detailed. My paintings are produced with acrylic paint and they are many-layered. This results in an almost photographic representation of the objects. Graphic elements are often present, because I employ black, white and grey shades. I also create three-dimensional illusions on these canvases. I try to give expression to the nature of the fabric that I paint: chrome looks like chrome, and the fragility of glass becomes almost tangible.
